The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His Love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joys. ~Zephaniah 3:17~

A taste of spring

The weather was quite surprising this past week. While we had been experiencing pleasant days in the 80's, all of a sudden, we dipped into the 40's for the highs, had a hail storm and got 3" of rain.  We are back to warm temps.

Here is a taste of the spring happenings in my yard.

This is part of the patch of bluebonnets in my backyard.  If you could see the blossoms up close, you could see they are going to seed as we are coming to the end of bluebonnet season.

One of the iris' in my yard.

First bloom on the canteloupe.

We have been enjoying the ripe strawberries.  Their bed is a porcelin bathtub I got for $10.

The old bathtub we dug up is now a flowerbed.

We are official beekeepers.  Our queen bee and a few workers arrived yesterday.  Woohoo!  Sorry, they are in the pic, you just can't see them buzzin around.  A few died in transit.  They are getting acclimated to their new home.  Right now, they will live in a one story hive but as the hive grows, we will add the 2nd story.

So grateful for spring.

Roo has left

It was such a good visit with Roo, just way too short.  It saddens me to hear him call Waylon by Waylon instead of Daddy, but Waylon's ex won't let Devon call him Daddy.  Poor Devon is so confused. Devon even goes by his stepdads last name.

Even more heartbreaking was that Devon screamed because he did not want to go back with his mom.

Lord, my heart is so hurting.

I am trusting God to take Waylon's screw-up and clean it up and fix it up but meanwhile, I think I need a lot of bandaids for this broken heart of mine.

Another wrestling match, my room became a man cave this weekend

A day off!

My boss gave me the day off!  WOW!! First full day off in 6 months.  I have to work the weekend but I have today off.  And just what am I doing on this glorious spring day?  Why, spring cleaning of course.  I need to do it as I have a very special guest coming tonight.  Yeppers, Roo should be here around 6:30 PM and because Waylon works tomorrow, I will get Roo time all to myself.  Too bad he leaves early Sunday morning but I am thankful for the time we get.

Praisin Jesus!  We serve a risen saviour!

First of the season hummer

I spotted a hummer at the feeder the other day but could not get to my camera fast enough to snap a pic.  Yesterday, I finally had my camera ready and was not disappointed.  I had to snap this pic through the door so I would not  scare her away.

Goodbye Miss Annie!

We were due to take care of Annie while Sue was out of town.  I got a phone call from Sue that Annie is now chasing squirrels in heaven!

Annie is the big dog next to my mom.  My friend Sue got her for free in the Walmart parking lot when she was a puppy.  Annie loved everyone and everyone loved Annie.

I miss you Annie. Sorry I did not get to give you one last butt rub :(

A taste of spring

First bluebonnet in my backyard.

One of many strawberries.  Can't wait for them to ripen.

And this year, we are starting our first hive of bees.  The hive is now painted, awaiting a queen and some workers that are coming in April. We wouldn't mind getting a swarm but have no way to haul them.

Finally!

I am finally over the hump of the holiday crisis at work.  Due to one of our clients and one major customer, my life is been nothing but reports, reports and more reports only for the president (client's office) to finally realize that, yes the product was on the shelf and no, people were not buying as much this year as last.    Go figure!  I am to assume that he does not do the grocery shopping at his home nor does he keep his finger on the pulse of the economy.

I am still working 7 days a week (darn those daily reports) but last week, my hours dropped to about 50 hours.  A definite improvement.

Last weekend was the first weekend in a very long time that I only had work a couple of hours each day.  I actually rested and piddled around the house.  Sunday night I slept 10 hours, which is highly unusual for me.

Talk about a mild winter.  Yes, we have had some freezing temps but nothing too bad.  February is normally when we have our dab of snow and ice (one night and morning before it is gone) but with 70-80 degree days, not sure we will get any this year.  Even though we will be in the mid 70's  tomorrow, we have a chance for a freeze tomorrow night.  Spring flowers are blooming!  Super crazy.  It is like spring already.  Drought conditions continue so it looks like another hot, dry summer with my favorite fishing hole drying up even more.  Last I saw, it was still down 19', which means, no boat ramps in the water.

I finished the office work I brought home and then thought I would pop by here and at least write a bit.  My life has been work, work, work but I am grateful I still have a job.

Heading to bed where visions of numbers still dance in my head!
