A while back, I decided to paint the living room a lighter color. Got the living room painted and some pretty sea green sheer curtains up. What a nice, peaceful change!!
After my divorce, I bought a brand new wooden platform bed for $50. A couple of years ago, when my ex showed up, he braced the bed as it was pretty rickety. Well, guess what!!! I had been saving money for a new bed. Went to a garage sale with a friend and found a beautiful teal, iron headboard and footboard by Elliott Designs. Got a super good deal on it, 1/5 the cost new (still had tags on it). Yesterday, the metal frame came for my platform bed so YEAH, no more creaking bed.
I must insert a Praise God or two. 1. The bed lasted me 20 years. Not a bad investment for $50. 2. The bed did not kill or injure me. When taking it apart to put up my new bed, I did not need a hammer or screwdriver. The boards just lifted up, they were that worn around the nails and screws. I also found several broken slats. 3. The extremely thin and cheap metal headboard and foot board are gone. The holes where the screws went in were so enlarged, I had to use big washers to keep the screws from going through the holes. Praise God they did not bust when Roo was climbing on them.
The youth at one of the churches in town is having a fundraiser; a good motivator to unclutter. I have wall pictures and no place to hang them so they are now gone. The soldiers to whom we sent books are now back home, so all those extra books (21 had been gotten free at a garage sale) are gone. No matter how much stuff leaves this house, there is still way too much furniture etc. here. Once mom is gone, a whole lot more stuff will go. She clings to everything.
The water department where I live gave away free low flow ADA toilets. I have been needing new toilets so I got 2 and Davey is coming out Sunday to install them. Surprisingly, they included new toilet bolts and wax rings with the toilets. Mom is going tomorrow to see about getting the free low flow showerheads. I misread my letter and did not realize they would not be with the toilets at the plumbing supply place but at the city hall. Sure hope they have some left.
My boss leaves at noon tomorrow and won't be back until Monday or Tuesday. YEAH!!! Perhaps I can get caught up at work.
I was going to fill-in housesit for some friends of my friend but their regular housesitter, who had surgery, thinks she will be able to do it. Sure, I would have liked the money but I really want to get more uncluttering done on Saturday and then, after Bible study Sunday morning Davey will be here and the next week, we have Miss Dottie ( an adorable bulldog) coming to stay for 1 week plus Roo will be here. If I don't get some cleaning and uncluttering done Saturday, I will be out of luck for a couple of weeks.
We had severe thunder and lightening for 2 days and then on Monday, we got 2" of rain. Sure have enjoyed the 70+ temps this week. Good chance of rain again tomorrow and through the weekend.
Celebrations abound this weekend. Davey's birthday is tomorrow but we will celebrate it Sunday when he comes out to install my toilets. Sunday is also Mother's Day and the day we celebrate Waylon's promotion.
Yeppers, there is a whole lot of new going on and I like it. Sometimes, I am not ready for new but this time, the new is all good!
enjoy your new bed..what a deal!
