The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His Love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joys. ~Zephaniah 3:17~

Woody

Meet Woody!!

The name seems to fit.  He is red and if I put feathers on the antenna (center of windshield), he would have a red mohawk. Let's just pray he does not start sounding like a woodpecker.

Hidden treasure part 2

Almost ready for next year's flowers

No amount of scrubbing will get this tub clean.

Hidden treasure

I forgot to take the before pic but if I had, all you would have seen was one little patch of white.  Just need to find the feet so I can finish getting her dug out.  Got to find some Studley Do Rights to hoist her to the top.

The tub is 16" deep.  Between scooping out the inside and digging around it to the bottom, we moved a lot of dirt.  Not sure how much more digging to find the feet but after 5 hours, my body was saying stop.

I love finding hidden treasure, especially when it is in my own back yard.  Well, OK, my neighbors backyard.

UPDATE:  The tub has been removed.    We now have it in my back yard.

Waylon came and lifted it out with a little help from mom and me.  Bummer, it did not have any claw feet but that is OK.  I am still quite please with my hidden treasure.

My crew!

I think I probably should treat them to a nice steak dinner for all their hard work.

Party time!

There's a new internet company on the block and we started using their service on Friday.  I can actually receive, and here's the biggie, AND SEND, email.  I can get on the internet and access our clients portals all in one fell swoop!!!!!!!!!!

PARTY! PARTY! PARTY!

I am one happy camper  :)

Now to find a car.  My ability to purchase has been delayed until the insurance check gets here, which should be Monday or Tuesday but I have been looking.

Car hunt is on

Just got word that the insurance company is going to total my car, so the car hunt is on.  I have reached out to friends first.  Perhaps they know someone who has a good used car for $3,000.

I have tried Craigslist and other avenues, several times over the years but it is always the same:

     1.  You get there and the car was sold to the person before you
     2.   Oops, we forgot to mention there is no title
     3.  Those pictures were ones from BEFORE the accident
     4.  Car is not in our name so you will have to get with the previous owner to transfer title

You get the picture.

I am quite sure God already has a car for me, now to go find it.

Rejection Scars

Here is the link to the blog that introduced me to a wonderful song (see further down).

http://tammycounsels.blogspot.com/2012/10/rejection-scars.html

And here are the words:

She holds for dear life to the ends of the sleeves in her hands,
Covering up lies that she wrote with a razor sharp pen,

And the sting of the blade is no match for the pain of the loneliness she's going through,

But we've all been there too.

Praise God we don't have to hide scars

They just strengthen our wounds, and they soften our hearts.

They remind us of where we have been, but not who we are

So praise God, praise God we don't have to hide scars

You can still see the mark on his hand where there once was a ring

He watched decades of history dissolve when she wanted to leave
And the hole that it left there inside of his chest

Is a canyon a thousand miles deep

We all know how that feels.

SO praise God we don't have to hide scars

They just strengthen our wounds, and soften our hearts.

They remind us of where we have been, but not who we are
So praise God, praise God we don't have to hide scars

There once was a King who so burdened with grief

Walked into death so that we could find peace
He rose up with scars on his hands and his feet

By them we are healed, by them we are healed.

So praise God we don't have to hide scars

Yeah we know his are covering ours

Praise God we don't have to hide scars

They just strengthen our wounds and they soften our hearts

They remind us of who we have been, but not who we are

So Praise God we don't have to hide scars

And here is the song:

Enjoy!

Booboo and the beauty

After yesterday mornings car booboo (see previous post), I arrive home to find beauty.

First, a car update.  The damage is almost as much as the car is worth.  I really can't afford a car payment so will see what the insurance company says.  Not only was it the grill, headlight and backdoor but there is a crack in the hood and it cracked another lens.  The auto shop did give me all my options should I choose just to have repairs.

Second, comes the beauty.  In my previous post, I showed the Fall Aster that was just ready to burst.  Well it did.

Here are the BEFORE pictures.

And now, the AFTER

By tonight, most of the rest of the buds should be open.

A beautiful end to my day that did not start out so great.

My car has a booboo :(

My car was attacked by flying lumber this morning.  Some idiot person in a pickup truck did not tie down their load and some pieces went airborne. Not sure the idiot pickup driver was even aware the lumber left the truck. The small car in front of me was able to veer into the other lane, clipping the flying wood, sending it my way.  I had 2 choices, let the lumber hit the car or veer and hit the dually in the lane next me.  I choose option 1.  Thankfully, my car came away with only a broken grill, headlamp and messed up back door.  I believe had it not been for the car in front of me clipping the flying wood, it would have bounced and possibly come into my windshield.

It was dark thirty and this particular stretch of road has no shoulder so I opted not to stop and pick up the offending piece of wood.

The grill is not too bad.

The light doesn't look bad but it is pushed in on the side and if you push the light back into place next to the grill, the headlights go off.  Not good!

My office building is reflected in the side making it harder to see the damage.

Last year, this car was given to me as a gift.  The couple wanted someone to have it who needed it (I did) and who would take care of it (uh-oh).  I miss my Toyota and often wish I was still driving it, however, I am grateful for this older (1999) and bigger car today.  Not sure my little Toyo would have taken the hit as well as this car.

I sure am hoping my guardian angel is getting plenty of rest before I head home tonight :)

Spring in the fall

We've had some rain and slightly cooler temps, only in the 90's.  This was my yard on Saturday morning.  It was just bursting with color I usually only see in the spring.

This is a rescued windmill.  Someone threw it away because it had 2 broken blades.  I have not been able to get the blades fixed properly but a little duct tape, some clips and lots of paint and I love it.  I have had it for a couple of years, usually with sunflowers around it.  This year, I planted a clock vine but until now, the clock vine did not do well.  It is so pretty.

Although you probably can't tell much, every plant in my front yard is in bloom.

Lantana comes in so many colors; pink, lavendar, yellow, yellow/orange, orange, orange/red.  I have plants of them all.  Love it when they all bloom at once.

A little more lantana.

Mom's Texas Yellow Bells.  They are just getting started.  Can't wait for them to get big enough to fill the bedframe.

And some more lantana.

Here is a sage with some lantana in the background.

My once a year blooming crepe myrtle has now bloomed for a second time.

The other side of the front yard.  Mom's new birdbath (the leaning stand) has now found a much better location where it does not lean.  My front yard has so many tree roots, it is difficult to find a place to stick things in the ground.

The butterfly bush is almost in full bloom.

In a few days, this Fall Aster and its friends will be in full bloom.  I will try to remember to get a picture.

Mom planted zinnias and only a few came up all summer.  Now the bed is full.  Can't wait to see them grown and in full color.

These are soon to be bluebonnets.  You could say they are about 7 months late in coming up or 5 months early. Either way, these bluebonnets are definitely out of season.  Will be nice to see them in bloom.

I sure am enjoying this taste of spring in the fall.
